Journey United Methodist Church is a community of people walking together through life. We’re not perfect; we’re not even close. Together we’re learning how to live more fully, more abundantly, through the love of God. We hope what you’ll learn here will inspire you to step into the Journey and walk with us!

In 2002 we decided to move from Illinois to Sunny Arizona! Ed found Tempe First United Methodist Church and we fell in love with the Methodist ministry. During our time at Tempe First Methodist we welcomed our first addition to our family and she was baptized by Pastor Dave Summers. When Pastor Dave found out we were moving to Maricopa he suggested that we connect with Journey United Methodist Church. The past two years in the Journey Community have been life changing. Through Pastor Eric Brown we have reconnected with our faith, grown as husband and wife along with instilling values in our children that align with our personal background and beliefs. We love the adult bible study and our girls enjoy attending Sunday school. This past April Pastor Eric baptized our youngest and now we can continue to grow in our faith with Journey!

The best thing about Journey United Methodist Church is the people. We always are greeted by so many friendly people and everyone that walks through the door is accepted. We felt a part of Journey the very first time we went and continue to feel that connection each week. The sermons are always relevant to today. One thing that has helped me grow in my spiritual journey is the Adult Sunday school class led by Pastor Eric. In addition, I have developed long-lasting friendships. Heather, Randon, Addison & Ryland
Journey was the answer to our prayers. Will and I had been having some marital problems. Just when I thought things were lost, I found Journey. They were doing a series on Marriage and even had a Date Night series. During the Date Nights, we met some awesome people who were very friendly, open, welcoming, and accepting. We decided to attend a Sunday service. It was just what we had been looking for. The members of Journey made us feel right at home. Now as members of Journey ourselves, we feel like we have extended our family. I would highly recommend Journey United Methodist to anyone who was looking for a place to worship and extend their family! Will and Kerry
We’ve attended Methodist churches from all over the country. In Arizona we were attending church, but hadn’t gotten s involved as we had been in the past. Part of this was simply the long commute to get from where we were living to the churches we had been visiting. We were very excited when we first learned that there was going to be a Methodist church in Maricopa. Here was our chance to start getting involved again. In this case, things really are evolving all the time as the church gets going. This means that opportunities are everywhere. Whether it is fellowship in small groups, working with missions in the community, or meeting new friends and neighbors that we might otherwise have missed. It is the sort of open and caring environment that we were hoping for, and we look forward to being a part of this growing church family. Jim and Joy
When I moved to Maricopa in 2006 and discovered that there was no United Methodist Church, I began praying that the conference would approve a church start here. That happened in 2008, and I have been active at Journey UMF since that time. I have especially enjoyed the LIFE group program where people can meet weekly to form friendships, receive support, study the Bible, participate in service projects, and pray together. Since serving in missions is a particular passion of mine, it’s been gratifying to experience that most of those who have affiliated with our fellowship are also desirous of serving God by serving others. Our Journey started when we moved from Maryland to Maricopa in September 2009 and quickly found Journey Church. Within a matter of weeks, we where not only finding ourselves at home as a partof Journey but we found ourselves becoming involved in Journey. One of the great things about a new Church is the amount of involvement its takes from so many people to make Sundays happen. Within Journey there is a great outpouring of service to the Church and our sounding community. Being involved has given us the opportunity to get to know so many of the members outside of church and develop lasting friendships. It’s the relationships that let us know we have found our home both in Journey and Maricopa. Matt and Holly
When I deci
ded it was time for me to go back to church I researched all the Maricopa churches. Journey’s website stood out to me because of their open mind open door policy. However I was still very weary, I have been to alot of churches and have not found one to call home. I felt like I was at home the second I walked into Journey. There were people at the door greeting me and more at the greeting desk. When I found a seat, the pastor walked up and greeted me. I had my infant son with me that morning and the children’s church leader came to tell me about their programs. I have never felt so welcomed, like I belonged. The sermons feel like they were written for me and my life, I can relate to the lessons being taught. I am glad that I decided to call Journey my home. Shannon
